French Typography Table

I can type blog titles without exclamation points, see?  Before I get to the table, make sure to check out the two giveaways this week!

I have to say this table is one of my new favorites.  I’ve been dying to give my new projector a go, and this coffee table was just the perfect thing.  Inspired by Red Hen Home, I took a deep breath, picked the perfect vintage text from The Graphics Fairy, and started to work.

Because I had to turn the lights off so the projector would work, there are no photos of me working on this table.  I guess I could have showed my spraying the table white, but that’d be pretty boring.

Anyhoo…you ready to see the finished product?

Ta-da! (Please ignore the patchy sunlight. I gotta work with what I got.)

I’m in lurve!

This project definitely appealed to my meticulous, perfectionist nature.  Did anyone else enjoy coloring between the lines as a kid?  Yeah, I was that kid.  Don’t hate.

I’ll keep this post short and sweet.  Just wanted to share a picture or two!

You did a great job! This table turned fantastic!
Could you please explain me how you transfer the text with the projector??
Thank you so much for share!

  21. Hi Kristin,

I am loving your tables! I caught the bug too and have been experimenting to see what transfer works best for me. I have tried the graphite paper transfer method–it works but is messy. I have tried Citra Solve and really wanted to like it, but it dissolved the paint as I was transferring. Ugh! Someone online works with a "blending pen"…I haven't tried that yet. But this projector lamp idea is intriguing. I am going to try it.

    I am your newest follower.

  22. Kristin says:

Thank you, Charlotte! Citra Solve was tricky for me, too, and I only used it on tea towels! I've never heard of a blending pen before…I might have to give that a try. The projector and a paint pen, though, are my two best friends when it comes to stuff like this. :)

Good luck with your future projects!

Came here via GF, love your table! I am one of those perfectionists that still likes coloring inside the lines and all…..

Thank you, Rupa! You’re the fourth or fifth person to ask me the same question about the table; I’ll try to get one up soon!

  24. Rupa says:

Forgot to ask how you did the image….could you please share a tutorial on how to do this? I am new to projector/pen method…do you basically trace over the projected image? Projectors are expensive I am told, just asking :) Hope you don’t mind, thanks!
